The centre was started by Moira Simpson, a Benoni resident and qualified social worker, in October 1992 as a response to increasing numbers of children on the streets of Benoni and the violent deaths of two street children. Before she formally established the centre, Moira had been feeding and counselling children on the streets, but she knew that they needed to get off the streets before real healing could begin.

Our mission is to reach children in need, especially those without parental care, in providing shelter, protection, education, training and therapy. Our encouragement results in positive inclusion for discarded, neglected and abused children.

Kids Haven is dedicated to the care and protection of vulnerable children, including those with street connections, to support meaningful inclusion in society.

How We Work

Pre-care aims to prevent family breakdown and to strengthen communities to support their own children and families. Pre-care extends to outreach on the streets, a soup kitchen, and the community preschool.

In-care is the full 24/7/365 care and protection of up to 172 children and youth who live at Kids Haven. Children attend school and participate in many activities.  While they live here we try to reconnect families with their children under supervision.  Our intention is to reunite families.

After-care is the ongoing care to children now reunified with their families or youth living independently in their communities. 

Maria started her ministry, caring for children in 1994. With horrific sad stories of abuse – sexual, physical and emotional, children being orphaned by the HIV/Aids pandemic and abandoned, having “nowhere” to go, Maria took them into her own home/orphanage. At the moment there are 28 in the “family” ranging from baby to  28yrs.

Often children just wander in off the street and have no idea where their parents are or where their roots are. The Police and Social Workers also bring children to the Home. Maria explained “in our home we try and instil in them a sense of caring, sharing, of self-worth and belonging.

I try to feed and clothe them as best as I can. For 14yrs we have been struggling, sometimes we only ate once a day. Sometimes we could not afford bread. Maria used to help out at funerals to get scraps and left overs telling people they were for her dog she could feed the children some of them including her daughter used to faint at school from hunger.

Meat was a luxury and most of the time eating porridge /cabbage/spinach. What seemed like a life of hopeless and helpless struggling but have now been given hope as we are sometimes blessed with donations and the children are eating better.” Sadly the number of orphaned, abused and abandoned children is enormous and the task of turning their lives around is formidable, both from education and supplying basic necessities of food, clothes and shelter

RETO is a non-profit Christian organization placed in Benoni, Gauteng near the busy cities of Johannesburg and Pretoria. The centre is situated on a farm in a serene environment.​

RETO South Africa was founded in 2011. Our team are mostly ex-drug addicts who, once 100% free from the bondage of their addictions, chose to dedicate their lives to help others RETO is a non-profit Christian organization placed in Benoni, Gauteng

Our program is totally free for all those who need and request our help. The program covers a period of approximately 12 to 18 month, depending on the individual needs and progress.

 Giving Care to a disadvantaged community. The Care Centre is situated in the Mokgoba Community in Daveyton in the East Rand, Gauteng. It is located between the informal settlement of Zenzele Extension 26 and the formal township of Daveyton in ward 25.

Siphumelele Care Centre was formed on the 10^th of March 2009 by seven (7) women who were driven by passion to address various problems in the community. The concerned women realised that there was a great need to address social ills within the community which included HIV/AIDS, TB Cancer, teenage pregnancy and parenting, crime, abuse, poverty, disability and aged members of the community. At this point, the name of the organisation was Siphumelele Home Based Care. The name of the organisation was later changed in 2012 to Siphumelele Care Centre as the centre is now offering more services than just Home Based Care. The creche, food garden, soup kitchen and the HIV/AIDS support group are the other services that led to the change of the name.

The Sithabile Child & Youth Care Center was established in 1993 to rehabilitate and educate children from the farms surrounding Dawn Park in Eastern Gauteng. Originally a day care center up until 1997, it has since expanded into a home where the children receive love, meals, shelter and an education.

The centre initially operated from a residential house in Dawn Park, Boksburg which later became too small for the number of children who needed the services of the home. Support from 3M helped the organisation to obtain a plot and various donors helped the organisation to build dormitories for the children.

Sithabile creates a safe haven for children who are survivors of abuse, exploitation, and neglect. Sithabile also has a drop-in facility for children who are hungry, sick or cold. Sithabile is a place where youngsters can re-claim their childhood, learn to play and look toward their future with hope; a home where children can dream and know that others believe they are gifts to be nurtured and cherished.

As the project grew it was necessary to try and find ways of making Sithabile self sustaining. To this end a garden project was developed and vegetables are grown to supply the Home and allow for some income through the sale of the surplus. The organisation also has started poultry farming, which helps to provide the children with eggs for their meals. Geese and goats were also acquired.

At Sithabile’s inception it was recognized that one of the primary functions of the facility would be to provide a good balanced diet to the children in care to counter the effects of malnutrition a large percentage of children suffered from. The animals and garden have helped to provide the children with education on how to grow their own food and also an opportunity to interact with animals through helping with their care. 

Hospice East Rand is a community based organisation whose mission is to provide high quality holistic and non-discriminatory palliative care for persons with life limiting illnesses and their families.

Hospice East Rand is a non profit organisation that has been serving the community with great pride since 1986. Our name is synonymous with exceptional specialised care for families where a loved one has been diagnosed with a life limiting illness.We are a full member of HPCA (Hospice Palliative Care Association of South Africa) and are accredited by COHSASA (Council for Health Services Accreditation of South Africa).

We provide palliative care to improve quality of life for our patients through the prevention and relief of suffering, the early identification, assessment and treatment of pain and other psychosocial and spiritual problems. Hospice affirms life and regards dying as a normal process. We neither intend to hasten nor postpone death. Psychological and spiritual aspects are taken into account when caring for our patients as well as when providing emotional support and counselling for family members.

We promote communication and confidentiality and encourage patients and their loved ones to express and share their feelings and concerns. All staff are trained to listen and regard sharing as a privilege.

We believe in a team approach to address the needs of our patients and their families and this support system is promoted through a team of medical doctors, nurses, care workers and social workers who can offer care to patients in the comfort of their home environment. The services offered by Hospice East Rand are on a par with Hospices worldwide. All staff and volunteer workers in direct contact with patients and families have undergone rigorous screening and training to ensure highest possible standards.

We are an inter denominational and inter racial organization founded with the purpose of helping improve the lives of abandoned, abused, neglected and vulnerable children in the community.

The Olive Grove is a registered NPO (087-909-NPO) based in Cape Town, and is led by Strategic Programmes Director Olivia Nagan, a qualified Psychological Counsellor. Involved in counselling youth as well as ‘families at risk’ from areas including Grassy Park, Retreat, Steenberg, Lavender Hill, Cafda, Seawinds, for the past 30 years, Olivia is also an accredited Focus on the Family facilitator and serves on the Board of Stop Trafficking Of People (STOP). Partnering with local community organisations, schools and social development initiatives, The Olive Grove has entrenched its footprint across the impoverished communities of the Western Cape. From community feeding programmes, to holiday camps and activities. The Olive Grove has reached some 30, 000 school learners with a relatively small team of volunteer facilitators – an incredible feat! The programmes offered by The Olive Grove include the ‘No Apologies’, Anti-Bullying and Traffic Proof. Since opening its doors in 2011, this fire-starter has been both a catalyst and partner for meaningful social change and relies solely on the financial support of individuals and corporate’s.

What is our Goal?

Mercy Circle NPC has set itself the goal to facilitate Mercy Ward Branches in 434 Ward

Churches in the metros and cities of Gauteng Province, thus creating food security at

these premises and registering Tshwane City of Technology (TUT) Satellite Branches

at these ward campuses in order to create sustainable community development

programmes and projects, based on education and entrepreneurial development.

What kind of Mercy community programmes and projects are we envisaging?

1. Mercy Circle NPC is coordinating programmes and projects by means of Mercy

Branches at alpha selected ward churches in Gauteng and other demarcated

metros in South Africa and Africa

2. Mercy functions as a co-operative society of care-holders with a common

purpose, where we incentivise people in the local community by delivering on

entrepreneurial development by means of sustainable primary cooperatives

formation

3. These cooperatives form the base of entrepreneurial skills development in a

ward community, after a ward skills audit has been performed

4. The skills audit will determine the basic needs of each vulnerable person and

youth in a local ward

5. Application of food security will be exchanged for education which will be

performed at the local Mercy Branch as TUT Satellite Education centre in a

given ward

6. The training will be certified and will comprise of recognition of learning by

means of certificates, diplomas, and degrees – eventually

7. The qualified Primary Cooperatives will be registered at the DTi, IDC, SETA’s

and other government and private institutions for funding

An in-principal commitment has been obtained from an international funding

base, with which we will be reaching a final agreement in the next month.

solution to the IBM Call for Code 2021 – Zero Hunger competition which

Communities by means of Mercy Branch Churches in Tshwane .

Anchor of Hope was established on the 23rd of March 2009 and is a non-profit umbrella organisation comprising of seven different divisions, each concentrating on its own field in the community of Bloemfontein.

Our aim is to restore the dignity of vulnerable people, irrespective of age, gender, ability, political background or race. Projects and programs focus on upliftment, development, restoring dignity and humanity, and providing a sense of worthiness and purpose. This is achieved by providing clothing, nonperishable food and support services through a network of organisations, projects, feeding schemes, counselling, awareness programmes, pregnancy home, men’s shelter and job preparation (and creation) projects.

Our vision is to expand our footprint nationwide with contributions of National Companies. Eight pillars of social impact receive our specific attention. These are: partnerships, welfare, skills development, the environment, individuals with disabilities, women, education and job creation

Our main focus is feeding the community around them, they prepare meals and feed communities. We can cook more meals and the feeding program has grown to 500 kids fed in Roosendaal twice per week and 35 kids every Sunday morning.

There is obviously more coming because the word is spreading but currently, that is all who we can assist. There are times when food is not enough t feed everyone, and it is really heart breaking to send children away without anything to eat.

Besides the feeding , we also distribute clothing, hampers and clothing with both Roosendaal and Delft South, Eindhoven and other surrounding areas as the need arises. We also assist other feeding Schemes and Organisations where there is need and homes destroyed by floods and fire. We also hand out and donate stationary, toiletries and other needs as it arises.

Takes care of children and teens with cancer. Choc aims to save lives through early detection and making the journey of those who are affected by childhood cancer, less burdensome through the comprehensive support programmes they offer. Choc provides accommodation facilities to such children, practical support that include carebags, nutritional support and bereavement support to the children and their families.

A non-profit organisation that advocates for the health and well-being of children and teenagers diagnosed with cancer or life-threatening blood disorders and their families. 

The passionate and dedicated staff and volunteers of CHOC aim to save lives through early detection and comprehensive support programmes for the families affected by cancer.

We offer, psycho-social, emotional and practical support as we augment the different medical fraternities.

The Gryphon Foundation is a Non-Profit Company founded in 2014 and works between active donors and target beneficiaries to ensure that local economies are positively impacted through business start-up, growth and sustainability and as a result contributing to national job creation goals through effective youth employment initiatives.  The Gryphon Foundation NPC supports initiatives for unemployed youth that lack the necessary qualifications and experience for gainful employment as well as for SMEs’ that require critical strategic business thinking skills. As one of its strategic partners, Gryphon Enterprise Development (Pty) Ltd supports the Foundation to identify, assist and develop budding entrepreneurs into self-sustainable entities, with the emphasis on uplifting, empowering and eradicating poverty in low income communities.

OUR FEEDING INITIATIVE

Not even half of all school children who qualify to benefit from the National School Nutrition Programme are receiving meals, according to the Department of Basic Education in an effort to reduce the this number Prosperous Souls have engaged with 5 schools based in Johannesburg to provide a feeding scheme to their students on a daily basis.

 Takes care of children with cerebral palsy. Cerebral Palsy is a condition that affects movement, posture and coordination.

Our Vision

Rainbow Generation’s vision is to prepare a new generation to become an effective part of the Rainbow Nation.

One can only be an effective part of the community if you have had the opportunity to be educated and understand your own purpose.

We start at ECD level and continue the journey together into Primary and Secondary school.

An initiative of bringing maths excellence in schools by training maths teachers and equip them with better teaching skills.

Conscious that the future prosperity of South Africa depends on increased numbers of mathematically qualified personnel, the two professional societies for mathematics in the country, the South African Mathematical Society (SAMS) and the Association for Mathematics Education of South Africa (AMESA), together representing the entire mathematics community in South Africa, acknowledge that there are common areas of operation in terms of mathematics development and education in this country and hence the need to pool the resources of the two organisations to meet the challenges.

SAMF as NPC was subsequently established in 2004 and serves as a national office for mathematics.  The office is powered by a superb team of professionals who work co-operatively with government, schools and other stakeholders in order to improve maths education in South Africa.

1. To create a mathematically enabling environment, which provides opportunities for all                learners to develop to their fullest potential
2. To inculcate a culture of mathematics.
3. To appreciate and acknowledge the critical role of mathematics in the technological                environment.

6. To popularize mathematics among all South Africans and to assist in improving the public technological environment.
7. To develop programmes that will contribute to the mathematical development of all South Africans.
8. To impact positively on the standard of mathematics teaching and learning.
9. To promote research in mathematics and mathematics Education.
10. To enable educators to participate in co-curricular programmes in order to provide them with the necessary skills and confidence to meet the challenges of curriculum changes.
11. To cooperate with organisations and stakeholders with similar aims and objectives.

Is a day centre that takes care of children in a disadvantaged community. It aims at creating an environment that promotes growth and learning to children, to give parents hope and trust that their children are under good care and a covering that cares not just about the prosperity of the organisation but of their children. The organisation was launched on the 16 December 2016 for opening of January 2017, so far it has been good success taking about 70 children every day from as young as 6 months to 5 years. It grows tremendously every day, it started with about 30 children at the beginning of the year now it has about 70 leaners. This shows that even though it’s a recently opened, the effect of it in the community is felt but most as it provides the services it intended to provide by doing so it has won the hearts of many parents.

Our main objective is to win souls for God’s Kingdom at large. To bring God back into our towns, our city and country. It is initiated and spearheaded by the eldest son of Evangelist Andre’ Coetzee, Nicky Coetzee. Growing up in the household of a full-time evangelist , the young man witnessed first hand the salvation of thousands of souls in his father’s tents from his childhood.
